Moving On Up: Nechelle is Graduating!
As a social enterprise, one of the most rewarding and bittersweet moments we experience is when one of our Creative Designers is ready to graduate. When a Creative Designer has achieved all of the goals she set for herself, and has completed all of T.E.A.'s programming relevant to her barriers, she is ready to graduate from Rebel Nell and move on to the next best step for her. Helping a designer find her next step can be an emotional process, but by the end of it, we're nothing but proud.
We are so happy to announce that our beloved Assistant Production Manager, Nechelle, is graduating from Rebel Nell! She has accepted a position at DTE Energy, and is ready to take on this next chapter of her life with bold determination and ferocity. Nechelle has worked with us for two years, starting as a Creative Designer and working her way up to Assistant Production Manager. She is one of the funniest team members we have ever had, and her "no problem" attitude is truly unmatched. Through the highs and lows of the past two years, she has never lost her smile, and her sense of humor (ask her about her QVC host impersonation!). We couldn't be more proud of her, and wanted to share a bit of her story with you all.
How has working at Rebel Nell impacted your life? Working at Rebel Nell has impacted my life in so many ways. They have taught me a skill that I can always carry with me. Not just jewelry making but how to use different tools and machines I never used before. Also I had a chance to improve my customer service skills by working in the retail store.
Tell me about some of the skills you have learned at Rebel Nell that has led to personal growth? I've learned more about empathy and understanding that has led me to apply this in my everyday life.
How would you describe the meaning of teamwork from your experience working as the Assistant Production Manager at Rebel Nell? Teamwork is extremely important. You have to work together to achieve a common goal. Also it helps the flow of production so we can meet our deadlines.
What does it mean to you to be empowered as a woman and how has your perspective evolved since working at Rebel Nell? Before this, I never felt what it was like to feel empowered. Since working here I have learned to be more outgoing and have a more positive outlook on life. Knowing that I can go out in this world and be the best woman I can be is simply amazing.
What is the message or feeling you want people to carry on when wearing the Nechelle Necklace? I want people to feel beautiful, powerful and confident. This is what this necklace represents to me.
What are some of your funniest memories working at Rebel Nell? My QVC commercials have always been so much fun to do. Just being around my Rebel Nell family is always a blast.
What is something you are most proud of that you accomplished while working at Rebel Nell? Being able to overcome some barriers I was having both personal and financial. With the classes the T.E.A has provided I've learned budgeting, personal growth amongst other things.
What is something you would say to a woman who can now take your place at Rebel Nell? I would say take full advantage of the services and classes that they provide. They help out a great deal.
What did you like most about being a Creative Designer, and then the Assistant Production Manager? Being a Creative Designer I was able to follow be more involved with the creation and design of the jewelry. As a Production Manager, I still had the chance to create but I had more responsibility including Quality Control which I liked as well.
What are you most excited about when you think about your next steps? I'm looking towards a bright future with the new company I'm with. I hope to turn my job into a career.
We love you, Nechelle, and we couldn't be more excited to watch you take on this next chapter in your life.
